Last week on Facebook I announced a new direction for Cloud Productivity. Well, not so much a new direction, there will still be plenty if great content on productivity and the like, but with a more holistic focus on these things as they apply to you, your money, managing your life, and actually living it.
There are so many great sites around that already offer amazing insights into the “how” of productivity. What I plan to focus on this year is the “why” and the impact of applying these rules on your money, life and living, as well as “how” to make these changes happen.
Money.
Money is a necessary evil. Whether you like it or not, we all need it to survive. Well, you could probably go all Tom Hanks on Cast Away and survive on coconuts and crabs, but… well, you get the idea. As you might have already read, I’m a nerd. I have a degree in computer science and now work with an amazing bunch of people to deliver and customise software for businesses. So what? Well, this means that for the last 30 years I have had absolutely no training or education on how to properly manage my money. I’m an entrepreneur at heart. For as long as I can remember I’ve come up with hair-brain ideas to make a few bucks, and some of them have worked for a while. At the end of the day, it never felt liked I had enough money, it just kept disappearing. Now 30 I’m still faced with the same demons. This year everything is going to change.
Join me and we will uncover practical money-making and money-saving ideas and lets work together to educate ourselves on how to make money last longer, and how to live smarter.
Life.
Life was probably simple once, maybe a few thousand years ago. Not so today. We’re faced with juggling careers, family, hobbies, mortgages and bills (see Money. above), and a lot more. With so much to manage it’s almost impossible to keep track of it all. This year Cloud Productivity will put a focus on giving you insights on how some people manage, practical tips on how you can do the same, and resources to bring it all together. Apart from my 9-to-5 job (which for a lot of people is now something like 8-to-6), I have a wife and two children to look after, the mortgage to pay, the car and house to maintain… And the list goes on.
Together, lets uncover amazing ways to get on with life and enjoy more of the good stuff by worrying less about the other stuff. Are you in?
Living.
Managing everything that’s going on in our lives is only half the battle. The other half is to actually to get out there and do. To grab life by the short and curly’s and live it; to be present in the moment, not in the future or the past; to take action. Historically, I’m a procrastinator. My dad recognised this in me very early and there are lessons he’s taught me which have stuck, especially doing things yourself and doing them now. This procrastination is what fuelled my passion for productivity. Over the last few years I’ve been searching and searching for ways to get things done, to be more effective and efficient and to enjoy life more by not having these monkeys on my back.
The journey is far from over. Together let’s work on really getting more out of life, to do more with the time we have and to be with the people we love.
It’s On!
In 2013 get ready to expect content created with you in mind by someone just like you. It’s a journey, it’s my journey and it’s yours. Let’s journey together, as a team. So please, as often a you can, let me know your thoughts, good or bad, on anything that you see or hear. I’m only one man, but with the help of people like you we can make a difference. It’s on!
